The Second World Youth Soccer Tournament is underway at Yokohama in Japan. Teams from sixteen countries including the Soviet Union are fighting for a place in the finals and a chance at the world title. On Thursday (30 August) Hungary downed Guinea in one of the preliminary matches.

SYNOPSIS: Guinea, playing left to right in the white shorts, had the kick off but were slow to take advantage. In a warning of things to come they lost possession and Hungary went on the attack, looking for their first chance at goal. A run down wing sees the ball carried well into the goal area, only to be intercepted by a Guinea player who tries for an overhead kick. The ball is scrambled to corner and Guinea are in trouble.

Hungary followed through and after a goal mouth scramble were soon rewarded with the first goal of the day.

Spurred on by their opening success Hungary went back on the attack but this time the Guinea defence was stronger. A brilliant save by goal keeper Soukourou Keita. A short time later another save..this time by Hungry's goalie.

Hungry came back after half time with another shot at goal. Number 7 Peter Divztl picks up the pass and shoots, but again the Guinea goal defence holds firm.

Despite a number of attempts throughout the game Guinea couldn't manage a breakthrough. Hungary proved too strong and went on to score another goal..taking the game two-nil. Before the match both teams had already been eliminated from the finals.
