Background: Winston the sheep-dog has more ways than one of getting about. When his young master, david Bowles, gets ready for a motorcycle ride, around his home town, Louisville, Kentucky, Winston is not prepared to be left behind. He needs a little help, of course, to get on the back seat, but there is no need to tell him to hold on tight to the rider. As David says, there is no doubt that Winston has mastered the art of motorcycling. It all started when friends of Dave's, who knew how much he loved his dog, and his machine, suggested he take them both for a ride. Dave gave the dog a trial run, showing him how to hang his paws over his shoulders, and Winston took his cue. he has now become an expert. He knows which way to lean into a bend, and does not need to be strapped on to his seat. he clearly likes the feel of the wind, and his long shaggy hair swept off his eyes, he can enjoy the sights. People's reaction as the pair rides by is usually one of sheer disbelief. They simply can't believe their eyes. Road-police are rather baffled by such an unusual sight. The riders were once stopped by a police officer. David was fined because Winston did not have a licence--a dog licence.
