    Background: Members of the legal profession and businessmen made their way from many parts of the world to attend the World Peace Congress in Abidjan, on the Ivory Coast. The Congress was organised by the World Centre for Peace through Law, and lasted for four days. It was the sixth congress of its kind, and was held at the Hotel Ivoire.

    Several thousand delegates at the congress adopted 41 resolutions on the jurisdiction of many international problems. They included terrorism, the environment, the rights of man, and the rights of refugees. The congress elected Mr. Charles Rhyne from the Untied States as President of the World Centre for Peace, and Judge William Thompson, from the Supreme Court of Columbia in the Untied States, as the Centre's Secretary General.

    The delegates took time off during the congress to watch a display of Ivory Coast dancing and to see a parade of costumes, jewellery and hair styles from different regions of the country. Later, President of the Supreme Court in the Ivory Coast, Mr. Alphonese Boni, presented models of Officers of the National Ivory Coast Order to Mr. Thyne and Judge Thompson.

    SYNOPSIS: Delegates to the World Peace Congress take time off in Abidjan to watch a display of Ivory Coast dancing. Members of the legal profession and businessmen made their way form many parts of the world to attend the Congress, which lasted for four days. It was the sixth of its kind, and was held at the Hotel Ivoire. While the delegates discussed international problems, their wives were taken sightseeing.

    Later, at the Fraternity Houphouet Boigny Club, the visitors to Abidjan were shown costumes, jewellery and hairstyles form different regions of the country. The Congress adopted forty one resolutions on the jurisdiction of many problems, including terrorism, the environment and the rights of refugees. Mr. Charles Rhyne form the United States was elected President of the World Centre, and given the medal of Officer of the National Ivory Coast Order by Mr. Alphonse Boni, the President of the Ivory Coast Supreme Court.
