Background: The need for mannequins in Germany is increasing fast, as life in the country returns more and more to normal after the austerities of war.
Several good studies have been opened in the capital, and perhaps the most popular of these is the studio Schwarsloose at the Kurfuerstendamm.
Many attractive - and hopeful - young ladies are entered there for instruction in the art of the mannequin. Many are called but few are chosen for this exacting and highly competitive career. Gifted, and not so gifted, ladies are here put through their paces - gymnastics, study of textiles, as well as cosmetics and deportment.
The course is a long one and demands hard work and concentration; and out of the many with high ambitions in this field only a few can succeed.
