Background: At an unusual trial in Versailles, France, on Dec. 23rd, two women were charged in connection with falsifying personal identity papers. They hid their faces as they were led into the court building.
The couple -- 80-year-old widow Ginette Ferronni and Bernadette Unvois -- went through religious and civil marriage ceremonies last September.
At the trial, elderly Ginette was wearing woman's clothing for the first time for three years, and had removed her imitation moustache. With false documents and her masculine appearance she had deceived church and civil officials, and relatives-in-law.
