    Background: On Wednesday (10 November) Bloomingdale's, a large New York stone, opened a boutique specialising in goods from the People's Republic of China.

    The store was exploiting the new interest in China springing from their winning a seat in the United Nations.

    The boutique is selling more than sixty hand-made bamboo and rattan tools and utensils used in everyday life in the People's Republic of China. Also on show were decorative goods, furniture, and toys.
