Background: Lady Baden Powell visited Sao Paulo, after having been in Rio. One of the highlights of her visit to Sao Paulo, was a ceremony held next to Lord Baden Powell's status, which is located at downtown Sao Paulo's Republic Square, one of the greater geen spots in this otherwise very grey city.
Scout and girl guide activities in Brazil are reasonably all developed. At first, some 15 years ago, only a small group of mainly english kids took part in this then unknown, to brazilians, way of juvenile education. Today, several thousand brazilian kids take part and form the ever 50 scout associations, which are recognized by the government, receive certain aid and are generally very well looked at, and respected.
Frequently, especially at Sao Paulo, scouts take part in regular traffic education campaigns, taking ever the jobs of the traffic officers, operating the traffic lights and pedestrian regulations at town.
