TRANSCRIPT: The Sabres, off to their best start ever, scored three goals in the opening period. McNab tipped in a power play gaol for the first score. Another power play found Jocelyn Davermond free and he blasted one past Tony Espersito to make it two to nil, Buffalo since nineteen-seventy-one and when Greg Ramsey scored for the Sabres it was clear the streak was not about to end. Chicago's Keith Maddison did manage to score unassisted in the second period, but hat was the only shot that got past Gerry de Jardin. He had only eighteen shots to contend with. The Sabres put forty shots on gaol. This is Charles Amundsen reporting".

They increased their lead to 3-0 when Greg Ramsey scored ad it was not until late in the second period that Keith Maddison managed to goal for the Hawks.
