It is indeed a fact that both Peking and Taipei firmly adhere to the concept of 'one China' Other countries such as Thailand Likewise believe in the unity and integrity of all sovereign states, and it is to be hoped that time will bring an accommodation to the conflicting claims of the partes concerned. They are the sole competent parties to work out their own problem, and strive be find a solution thereto. Consequently, the position of the Thai delegation should be explained solely by the requirements of present political realities as well as the existing facts of international life, and got by any theoretical consideration.

    Background: Addressing the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday 30 September) Thailand's Foreign minister Thanat Khoman said Thailand would support continued membership of Taiwan in the U.N., as wall as representation of the People's republic of China. But he rejected the O.S, 'Two-China' policy as asia way of achieving this.

    An essential part of the Thailand view was that the issue should be resolved some time in the future by the tow parties immediately concerned.

    SYNOPSIS: In the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday, Thailand's Foreign Minister Thanat Khoman said that his country would support continued membership of Taiwan in the United Nations, as well as representation of the People's republic of China.
