Background: An extremely entertaining display of Yogi science and exercises was held today in New Delhi.

The Yogi feats were displayed at the Wellindon Pavilion, New Delhi, before a vast audience including Mr Pandit Nehru, himself a great yoga enthusiast.

The Display was held as part of the current World Vegetarian Congress, to popularise the vegetarian way of life and prove to the ordinary man in the street that vegetarianism was as conducive to health and strength as any other.

Yogi is an ancient Hindu science, and before the display the spectators, among who were any delegates attending the World Vegetarian Congress, heard an inaugural address by an American, Dr. O. Egarod, who also cut a ribbon to start the show.

One of the most breathtaking exercises was one where the yogi takes the full weight on is body of, first, a truck carrying men, and second, a roller vehicle.

Yogi exercises are extremely difficult and, though they have a mystic appearance, are in fact based on science and, if restored, can keep a man active and well into old age. There are special exercises for the stomach, eyes, limbs and other parts of the human body. By consuming water in bulk and then ejecting it, thorough clean-out can be given to the internal irrigation system.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr Nehru congratulated the yogis, and called upon them to analyse and select a few of the "asanas" which were suitable for adoption by the common man and thus popularised throughout the nation.
