    AT THE AIRPORT TO MEET HIM WERE THE MAYOR OF TUNIS, M. BEN AMMAR, THE CITY'S GOVERNOR, M. BELLAGHA, AND BRITISH DIPLOMATS.

    MR. LEE, WHO WAS ACCOMPANIED BY A 27-MAN DELEGATION, SAID ONE OF THE AIMS OF HIS VISIT WAS TO MAKE SINGAPORE AND THE REST OF THE MALAYSIAN FEDERATION KNOWN TO TUNISIANS.

    HE WENT ON: "WE WOULD BE VERY HAPPY IF TUNISIA WERE TO ESTABLISH DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH MALAYSIA, AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO COMMERCIAL EXCHANGES BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES".

    THAT EVENING, HE MET THE TUNISIAN SECRETARY-GENERAL FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS, M. SAHBANI, AND THE FOLLOWING DAY (TUESDAY), BEFORE FLYING ON TO RABAT, HAD LENGTHY TALKS WITH PRESIDENT HABIB BOURGUIBA.

    COMMENTING ON THE CEASEFIRE ALONG THE BORNEO BORDER, HE SAID: "IT CONSTITUTES ONLY ONE STEP TOWARDS REAL PEACE, WHICH CAN ONLY BE REACHED WHEN ALL BORDER INFILTRATION STOPS".
