Background: A heavy Easter snowfall and icy roads outside Copenhagen caused thousands of anti-nuclear demonstrators to cancel their march past RISO, the Danish atomic research station. Instead, they started to walk to the capital along the main road from Roskilde.
But the bad weather defeated the campaigners later and, at Tasstrup, April 1, they chartered a train to complete their journey to Copenhagen. Later, they all received a dose of much needed anti-cold medicine.
About two thousand demonstrators had left Holbeck for this annual anti-H-Bomb procession. They were organized by Denmark's "No more war" association. Last year, the ranks of 1000 marchers had swollen to 8,000 by the time they reached the capital.
