Background: The fourth anniversary of King Mohammed V's return to Morocco, and his re-ascension of the throne, was celebrated in Casablanca, November 16, with a big military parade, and a three-day national holiday.

16,000 men of Morocco's young army - founded only three years ago - and an assortment of fighting vehicles paraded past the King, who was accompanied at the saluting base by his youngest son, Prince Moulay Abdullah. Heading the parade was Prince Moulay Hassan, heir to the throne and chief of Morocco's royal armed forces. He was mounted on a magnificent Arab stallion.

Among the mechanized units were four 105mm, mobile guns presented to the King by French President de Gaulle the day previously.

Representatives of all branches of the forces took part, ranging from paratroops and infantry with bazookas, to desert patrols and white-clad mountain troops equipped with skis.
