The French President was greeted at Northolt Airport by Mr. Heath, The two heads of state drove to Chequers, the Prime Minister's official country residence, where they were understood to be having intensive discussions.
They will be concentrating on ways of strengthening the nine-nation European Economic Community, both internally and internationally, and planning for a Common Market summit in Copenhagen on December 14 and 15.
The two leaders last held talks in May of this year in Paris.
High on the list of international questions to be discussed at the summit were the Middle East and European Security.
