Background: In Cairo on Sunday (16 March) talks were held between President Anwar Sadat of Egypt and the Indian Foreign Minister, Mr. Swaran Singh.
The Indian Foreign Minister was stopping off on his way to Algiers to attend the meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement's Permanent Bureau which opens on Tuesday (19 March).
The Algiers meeting has been called to prepare for a special session of the United Nations General Assembly next month when a review of the prices of world primary products in relation to manufactured goods is expected.
At Sunday's meeting, President Sadat and Mr. Singh discussed the problems of the Middle East, the Indian Sub-Continent and the world political situation in general.
Sunday was a busy day of talks for the Egyptian President. He received the Saudi Arabian Minister of Defence and Aviation, Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz who is on a visit to Egypt; with a large delegation. Egyptian Field Marshal Ahmed Ismail also attended the meeting.
Later Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz received a medal from President Sadat.
