The 22-year-old Borg, who won last year's final in five sets, calmly disposed of the unseeded Dutchman, Tom Okker, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. Meanwhile Connors fought his way past his compatriot, Vitas Gerulaitis, seeded number three, to also win in straight sets.

SYNOPSIS: From the moment Connors began his semi-final with Gerulaitis he seemed determined to win. It was a hard fought first set with both players breaking each other's services early on.
