Background: To-day, 7th October, 1959, is the 40th Anniversary of the foundation of K.L.M. Royal Dutch Airlines. A Statue of the founder of the Company, Mr. Albert Plesman, who died in 1954, was unveiled at The Hague.
During the ceremony two K.L.M. aircraft flow overhead - the Fokker F7A, one of the earliest types of passenger aircraft used by K.L.M. and a Lockheed Electra, one of the latest types to be employed in the service.
