Background: While most of the attention at Cape Kennedy is focused on the Gemini Five launch scheduled for 19 August, scientists are already hard at work on the next launch -- GT-Six scheduled for October.

The plane is a commercial Stratocruiser that has been specially modified to carry space capsules and boosters. In addition to its bulging fuselage, the aircraft is unique in that it splits into two halves for loading and unloading.

The Gemini Six will be launched by a Titan rocket into a two-day mission during which Astronauts Walter Shirra and Thomas Stafford will attempt to rendezvous in space with an Agena rocket launched separately.
