    Background: The world championship Ratzeburg Rowing Club of Germany..one American victory under its belt..Races against the Princeton University varsity crew this Saturday (27 April).

    Members of the crew opened their month-long tour of the United States with a visit to the White House and a meeting with President Kennedy on Friday (19 April).Two days later (21 April)...they easily defeated the eight-man varsity crews of Georgetown University and St.Joseph's College of Philadelphia on the choppy Potomac River at Washington, D.C.

    The German team..coached by Dr.Karl Adam...won by three lengths over a 2-thousand-meter course.

    After Princeton, the club will be in New York the following week end...Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 11 May...and will end its tour on 18 May at Worcester, Massachusetts...all in the northeastern United States.
