    SPEECH ON FILM (TRANSCRIPT)

SEQ. 5: NUJOMA: "We do not need foreign troops. The war in Namibia is being fought by the Namibians themselves. All what we need is material assistance to enable us to carry out any effective struggle against the enemy."

    SPEECH ON FILM (TRANSCRIPT)

SEQ. 7: NUJOMA: "There are some Western countries like Sweden, Holland, Norway who car giving us concrete humanitarian aid and we appreciated their support. I have not said that all the Europeans are against our struggle for freedom and independence but I am blaming the governments of the US, UK and France - the previous French government -- who exercised vetoes on behalf of the Pretoria racist regime claiming that South Africa was their trusted ally with whom they fought together during the two World Wars."

Background: INTRODUCTION: The President of the South West Africa People's Organisation, Mr. Sam Nujoma, has been in Zimbabwe for SWAPO Solidarity Week (1-7 June) which was called by the government to demonstrate the country's support for the guerrillas in Namibia (South West Africa).

SYNOPSIS: About 2,00 people, singing, dancing and chanting, were at Salisbury airport to greet Mr. Nujoma at the start of his visit on Monday (1 June). The government had urged Zimbabweans to attend a series of mass rallies in support of Mr. Nujoma and SWAPO and to contribute generously to his cause.

After being welcomed by Mr. Nkomo, the Zimbabwean Minister Without Portfolio, Mr. Nujoma spoke with newsmen.

When newsmen asked Mr. Nujoma about the attitude of Western governments towards SWAPO he had both praise and blame for them.
