    Background: The British oil tanker, Haustrum, which was recently shelled by the Vietcong, is now berthed at Nha-Be, just south east of Saigon.

    The 12,000 ton vessel was hit by nine shells fired from a position on a bend in the Saigon River. The helmsman was killed in the attack, and the captain wounded.

    The shells damaged the Haustrum's bridge, her radio room, the captain's quarters and the dining room.
