Background: Dr. Roberto Arias, former Panamanian Ambassador in London and husband of Prima Ballerina Dame Margot Fonteyn, was filmed at the Copacabana Palace Hotel, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, October 18, with Panama's Vice-President, Senor Temistocles Diaz.
Reports from Rio de Janeiro said they were discussing plans for Dr. Arias to stand as a presidential candidate in Panama's elections next May, and for Senor Diaz's re-election as Vice-President.
Dr. Arias has recently had talks with leaders of Panamanian opposition parties, with the aim of forming a united opposition to President Ernesto La Guardia's National Party.
Earlier this year Dr. Arias spent two months in asylum at the Brazilian Embassy in Panama City, after allegations that he had been implicated in a plot to overthrow the Panamanian government by force.
