Background: On Saturday (20 April) the Haiti national football team, finalists in the World Cup, were training gently in Brasilia in preparation for Sunday's (21 April) warm-up game against world champions Brazil.
The Haitian players were optimistic about their chances against the reigning world champions and said they would make a "very honourable showing".
The people of Haiti, are pinning their dreams on their dreams on their team and were confident about their performance against Brazil and at the Munich finals in June.
But on Sunday (20 April) the Brazilian team totally outclassed Haiti before 35,000 spectators and beat them 4-0.
Only Haiti's goalkeeper, Francillon, the busiest man on the field, prevented the final score from being closer to ten-nil.
The Haitians were crammed into their own half for most of the match and the Brazilian goalkeeper did not have one shot to stop in the whole 90 minutes.
In the World Cup elimination games Haiti beat the Netherlands Antilles 3 - 0, Trinided and Tobago 2 - 1, Honduras by 1 - 0 and Guatemala by 2 - 1 before guaranteeing their place in the finals by defeating Mexico 1 - 0.
But Haiti now has to play Argentina, Italy and Poland in Munich.
