Background: Continuing violence in American countries and the transgression of human rights are the main items for discussion at this year's Inter American Catholic Bishops Meeting.
The meeting is being held in Mar del Plata, in Buenos Aires, Argentina...the scene of severe violence, much of it political, over the past months.
Participants in the conference come from all corners of the American continent. There are delegates from Canada, the United States and from several Latin American countries.
At the start of this, the tenth meeting of its kind, the Ecclesiastical authorities held concelebration mass in the room set aside for the conference, using a table as the alter.
