Background: Thousands of Israelis flocked to Ammunition Hill in Jerusalem yesterday to honour their dead countrymen who fell in the Six Day War with the Arab states. The war happened three years ago.
There were scenes of widespread sadness with old women breaking down into tears as trees were planted in memory of the dead Israelis. The Israeli Prime Minister,Gold Meir, was among those who planted trees. Another was planted by Brigadier Motta Gur of the Israeli army.
Later there were prayers at the Wailing Wall.
