Background: Visnews cameras at the Royal Palace, Soestdijk, Holland, Jan 31 filmed four young polio patients presenting a 21st birthday cake to Crown Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands. They represented the Princess Beatrix Polio Fund of which she is patron. After one of the children, nine-year-old Joke Okkerman, had lighted the candles, they all gathered round with Princess Beatrix to taste the cake.

Holland was gay with national flags as the Crown Princess celebrated her birthday. From public buildings, factories and homes in villages and towns throughout the country, the orange streamer of the House of Orange flew in recognition of the happy occasion.
