Background: Soccer -- and the highly prized Libertadores Cup has been carried off to Paraquay. For the first time in Paraguay's sporting history their National team Olympia has successfully wrested the Cup from a host of South American contenders. Olympia were declared the cup winners after an incident-packed match against Argentina's Boca Juniors in Buenos Aires on Saturday (28 July).
SYNOPSIS: Boca, playing in the dark shots, made an attacking start, taking the ball well into their forward lines.
But after just two minutes of play a tackle involving Olympia's goalkeeper was to set the scene for the rest of the match. He was fouled and the decision sparked a clash between rival players. The referee responded by sending two players off -- one from each team.
Boca then went back into the attack -- but missed this chance of scoring.
Olympia now with a promising run down the wing, but the chance is lost as Boca regain possession and head for gaol. Once again Boca shoot, only to see the ball deflected.
The second half saw more scrappy play and field clashes, with another two players being sent off. The final score -- a nil-all draw. But it was all Olympia needed to win the Cup.
