  • Description

Angered by a Government refusal to allow them to hold a mass rally, members of the Greek Liberal Party are pictured at a meeting, October 14, to plan protest moves.

Liberal Party Parliamentary leader, George Papandreou, is pictured entering the Parliament building and, inside, presiding over a meeting of Liberal Deputies.

The Liberals wanted to hold the rally as a demonstration against Government policy on Cyprus.

Turning down the request for the rally, the Government issued a statement which said that the Cyprus issue would be harmed if the debate was allowed to be transferred to the pavements. In any case, said the statement, the Liberal Party was in no position to enlighten and lead the people.
