Background: After their 5-0 defeat by Sheffield Wednesday, Nov 7, the Russian guest team Tbilisi Dynamo emerged with a 5-5 draw from their friendly match against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, Wolverhampton, Nov 10.

Two goals in the first three minutes set the pace for a lively game. A leading goal by Meshki, only Russian international in the Dynamo team, was quickly equalised by Farmer. In the 12th minute, Meshki was back to deliver another brilliant shot which was headed in by Dynamo's captain Gogoberidze. Wolves rallied admirably and gave Dynamo's goal-keeper Kotrikadze a hard time, but a series of near misses was all they achieved. Gogoberidze, supported by Meshki, hit back one minute before half-time, making it 3-1 for Dynamo.

A great 20-yard drive by Mason in the 61st minute put Wolves at 3-2, but the game looked all over for the hosts ten minutes later, when Meshki and Barkaya had rapidly increased Dynamo's lead to the impressive margin of 5-2. Goal-keeper Finlayson was hurt diving at Meshki's feet and there did not seem to be much left of the Wolves.

Ten minutes from time it was still 5-2...then came the dynamic finish. South African Cliff Durandt, substitute for left-winger Deeley, scored with an uncleared ball from Toradze. As the Russian defence started to waver, Farmer brought in a fourth goal for Wolves, followed by Murray's equalising shot in the seconds allowed for injury time. It goes without saying that the home crowd went wild with enthusiasm.
