Background: The United States Warship "BIGELOW" flying the flag of Rear-Admiral Edward C. Stephan, Commander in Chief of the U.S.Fleet Stationed in South Atlantic, visits Luanda in a Courtesy visiting.
Upon arrival at Luanda harbour, the warship remained at the harbour master of the port and a State Officer of the Government of Angola board the American ship for customary welcome greetings.
Later in the morning, rear Admiral E.C. Stephan went to the Government Palace, to pay his respects officially to Colonel Sa Vianna Rebelo, Governor General, who visits subsequently the American Naval Unit to return the courtesy being received with the honours of his rank and friendship.
