Background: Over 15,000 people from France, Holland, Belgium and the Soviet Union, headed by West German Minister Ernst Lemmer; M.Forest, President of the French Federation of Deportees; and M.Triboulet, French Ex-service and War-victims Minister, rallied in the forest at Dortmund, West Germany, Apr 15 for the consecration of a statue to Gestapo victims.
On Good Friday, 1945, 289 workers deported to Germany for the Nasi war effort were murdered by the Gestapo; most of the victims were French, and their bodies were never identified.
