Background: King Mahendra and Queen Ratna of Nepal, on an 8-day State visit to Japan, had a busy day in Tokyo, Apr 21, with visits to the Nippon Electric Company factory and the Japanese Diet.
At the NEG works the Royal couple inspected departments where radio transmitters, television, and transistor radios are assembled by girl-workers.
Later, Diet officials Ichiro Koyose and Tsuruhei Matsuno greeted them at the House of Representatives, and while members applauded they made their way to a visitor's box, from which to witness a session of the House.
The same evening, accompanied by Prince Dhirendra, they attended a performance by Shochiku dancers at the Kokusai theatre.
