Background: Two Lebanese charged with hijacking a South african airliner and forcing the pilot to fly it to Malawi, made a brief appearance in court at Blantyre on Friday (25 august)
They pleaded not guilty to the three charges against each of them and were remanded in custody for trial on September fourth.

The accused are Fouad Abu Kamil and Ajaja Georges Yaghi.

The court was told that on May 24th, a south African Airways Boeing 727 in which they were flying, was hijacked to Blantyre while on a flight from Salisbury to Johannesburg.

The drama ended hen a hail of fire from Malawi security forces flushed two men from the aircraft at Chileka airport.

SYNOPSIS: The men, Fouad Abu Kamil and Ajaja Georges Yaghi, pleaded not guilty to all charges against them. They were charged with demanding money from the captain of the aircraft, wrongful confinement of persons and of being in unauthorised possession of explosives. They were remanded in custody for trial, starting on September the fourth.
