Background: President Hamani Diori of Niger is making a fact-finding tour of Arab countries. The President said he embarked on his trip "to get to know the different standpoints, to have more information on the serious problems of the Middle East, and also to see the situation created by solidarity shown by nearly all African states in this problem".

On Wednesday (November 7), President Diori arrived in Morocco, on the second stage of his tour. Flying in from Algiers, he was greeted at Rabat Airport by the Moroccan Foreign Minister, Mr. Taibi Ben Hima.

It was a visit of "friendship and fraternity", according to the Niger President, who had talks with King Hassan II. The King honoured his guest at a banquet in the Royal Palace on Wednesday night.

This was the president's next stop after he left Rabat on Thursday (November 8). Visits to Libya and Egypt will complete Precedent Diori's tour of Middle Eastern countries.
