Background: WITH 17 DAYS TO GO BEFORE MALAYA GOES TO THE POLLS-APRIL 25 -- THE RULING ALLIANCE PARTY HAS ITS ELECTION MACHINERY WORKING IN TOP GEAR IN KUALA LUMPUR. THE PARTY IS CONFIDENT OF A COMPLETE VICTORY, BOTH IN THE STATE AND PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS.

IN KUALA LUMPUR, THE ACTING PREMIER, TUN ABDUL RAZAK, TOLD AN ELECTION RALLY THAT PRESIDENT SUKARNO OF INDONESIA WOULD GIVE HIS RIGHT HAND TO SEE A BROKEN OR SPLIT ALLIANCE IN 1964.

TUN ABDUL RAZAK WAS REFERRING TO THE PEOPLE'S ACTION PARTY OF SINGAPORE, WHO IS CONTESTING THE ELECTION.

HE SAID: "THE PAP LEADERS MUST REALISE THAT THE JAKARTA REGIME WANTS THE ALLIANCE TO BE DEFEATED IN THIS ELECTION. THIS IS A HOPE WHICH JAKARTA WILL NOT SEE FULFILLED."
THE SOCIALIST FRONT, ONE OF THE MAIN OPPOSITIONS TO THE ALLIANCE PARTY, DENIED AT A RALLY, REPORTS THAT INDONESIA WAS MAKING USE OF THE FRONT TO EXTEND COMMUNIST INFLUENCE IN MALAYA.

THE FRONT ALSO DENIED THAT THE ALLIANCE, THROUGH RESEARCH, HAS FOUND THAT THE FRONT'S SYMBOL OF A BULL ON A RED BACKGROUND WAS INCORPORATED IN THE EAGLE EMBLEM OF INDONESIA AND THUS HAVE CONNECTIONS WITH INDONESIA.

SINGAPORE'S PRIME MINISTER, MR. LEE KUAN YEW, SAID AT A RALLY THERE WAS NO CONFLICT BETWEEN THE RURAL AND URBAN HAVE-NOTS, AND "WE ARE NOT DRIVING A WEDGE BETWEEN THE CHINESE AND THE MALAYS."
THE PEOPLE'S ACTION PARTY HAD ALWAYS STRESSED THE IMPORTANCE OF MULTI-RACIAL FOLLOWING AND SOUGHT TO PROVIDE A LEADERSHIP FOR ALL RACES IN THE RURAL AREAS OF MALAYSIA.

PREMIER LEE KUAN YEW REMINDED THE LARGE GATHERING OF THE PART'S SOCIAL REVOLUTION AND THE WINDS OF CHANGE THAT HAD TO BLOW IF THERE WAS TO BE SUCCESS.
