Background: During the month of January (1968), A-4 "Skyhawks" operating from U.S. Navy aircraft carriers KITTY HAWK and CORAL SEA hit various in North Vietnam.
On January 19, "Skyhawks" from the KITTY HAWK struck the Yen Phu highway bridge and ferry crossing. The jets cratered the western ferry landing during the attack.
A rocket run on a storage area south of Thanh Hoa conducted by other A-4s on January 24 resulted in fires in the buildings.
The next sequence was shot on January 22 by a "Skyhawk" from the CORAL SEA. During an aerial assessment of bomb damage on a cross road area at Son Chau near Thanh Hoa. A fire can be seen near the intersection of the two roads.
In the final sequence the Thanh Hoa railroad bridge, located two miles to the north of the city, is hit by A-4 "Skyhawks" from the CORAL SEA on January 28. Direct hits on the bridge caused considerable damage to the eastern end of the span including a large hole in the structure.
