Background: The center Union Party honoured today the memory of its fonder, democratic leader George Papandreou who died in 1968 after being persecuted and imprisoned by the Junta regime. All political partries were represented in the memorial service which was held today at his grave in the first Athens Cemetary. Late Papandreou's son, Andreas, leader of the Panhellenic Socialist Movement was also there, as well as thousands of students and athenian youths who cheered the Socialist leader and the Center Union party representatives. They later attempted to march through Athens streets, but stopped by Police.
