The head of an Israeli-financed commando group, which is hunting fugitive Ugandan leader Idi Amin, claims that the ousted President is organising a last stand.
SCU: Israeli commando leader Daniel Waltener speaking in English. (2 shots)
WALTENER:"We have located the remains as you all know already. But recently, a day-and-a-half ago, we located hundreds and possibly thousands of mercenaries coming from all over Arab countries. They are preparing themselves for ta very large counter attack against the military forces of the free people of Uganda. We have also found at this time the remains of Mrs Dora Bloch-- one of the grandmothers of Israel. And her murderer, the man who shot her twice in the head at the time after the Entebbe raid was Lieutenant Colonel Juma Ali (phonetic spelling) and he is in overall command of the planned attack that is going to start in the next-possibly in the next few days or two weeks, I would think. They have now more personnel, and some very heavy equipment are landing every day around Arua and other places in northern west Uganda."
REPORTER:"It is our impression from speaking to officials in Kampala, that Mrs Bloch was killed and then just dropped in a burial area outside of kampala.
WALTENER:"She was close to kampala in a small army camp called ummm...I cannot remember the goddamned name er. that was a small military police camp right outside kampala, right next to a wood."
WALTENER:"She was shot by the man who is in charge right now of the possible terror attack. They tried to go back to that camp and bury her there, but there were already hundreds of bodies. Now the problem we have right now, and the government of Uganda has been super super super civilised, humanitarian, and kind-the problem they have is they do not have the experts to be able to distinguish the bodies of a white of a black, of a (indian or whatever). There is very little difference after a while. So right now we are having to keep her underway, we are going to be able to do the job to be able to distinguish the bodies and help them out, we are going to work on this."
WALTENER:"Well for some people who specialise in this field, there is plenty to tell whose body it is."
Mr Waltener, was speaking in Nairobi shortly before returning to Tel Aviv to report back to the commando group's sponsor, parliamentarian Samuel Flatto Sharon. He did not identify the so called Arab mercenaries his men had seen in and around Arua. Ugandan military officials told reporters in kampala on Saturday (26 May) that Tanzanian and Ugandan forces were poised five miles (eight kilometres) from Arua and would launch a fresh offensive any day now. The same officials also said that according to their intelligence reports, there was little of Amin's army left int he town.

Background: The head of an Israeli-financed commando group, which is hunting fugitive Ugandan leader Idi Amin, claims that the ousted President is organising a last stand. Speaking to reporters in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, on Sunday (27 May) Daniel Waltener--an American of French extraction-- said that hundreds and possibly thousands of Arab mercenaries are being flown into Uganda to fight for President Amin. Mr Waltener also claimed that members of his group had Amin under constant surveillance close to the north-western Ugandan town of Arua and had seem military equipment and personnel being unloaded from heavy transport aircraft. Of Mrs Dora Bloch, the 73-year-old Israeli woman who disappeared from a kampala hospital in July 1976, Mr Waltener said he had found her remains and was making efforts to have them scientifically examined.
