Background: Philippines Foreign Secretary Carlos Romulo met with Prime ???inister Sanya Dharmasakti of Thailand on Wednesday (14 august) to discuss South East Asian affairs.
Mr. Romulo, who arrived in Bangkok on Monday (12 August) for a four-day official visit, also received from Mr. Sanya Thailand's highest decoration -- The Knight of Grand Cordon of The Most Noble Order of The Crown of Thailand.
On his arrival, Mr. Romulo emphasised the need for a non-aggression pact among South East Asian nations as a step towards establishing a zone of neutrality in the region.
During his visit, the Philippine Foreign Secretary also held talks with his Thai counterpart, Mr. Charungphan Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya. Both men have expressed the view that the South East Asian Treaty Organisation (SEATO) should continue to curb Communist aggression and infiltration in the region. SEATE has recently announced it was changing its emphasis from a military to a more social and economic role.
Mr. Romulo is scheduled to leave for the Philippines on Friday (16 August).

Shortly after their discussion, Mr. Sanya presented the visiting Philippine Foreign Secretary with The Knight of Grand Cordon of The Most Noble Order of The Crown of Thailand.
The award is the nation's highest decoration.
During his visit, Mr. Romulo also met with his Thai counterpart and other Foreign Ministry officials on regional economic development and security.
Mr. Romulo is scheduled to return to the Philippines on Friday.
