Background: Stone-throwing youths sparked off another riot in Belfast on Friday (21 May). Troops acted promptly when the youths began hurling stones and bottles at a factory, firing rubber bullets and charging the young rioters. When the mob was dispersed, the troops concentrated on a bar known to be frequented by Republican sympathisers. They detained 33 men, including Northern Ireland Republican Labour M.P., Mr. Paddy Kennedy, who had earlier made brutality accusations against the soldiers following Thursday's riots.
