Background: The Ghana Police has obtained an international warrant for the arrest of the deposed President Kwame Nkrumah. Kwame Nkrumah has been charged with conspiracy to extort, extortion and stealing. The Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nunoo, said in Accra this morning that copies of the warrant which was issued by the Supreme Court in Ghana as being sent to sixty member countries of the International Police Organisation (INTERPOL) to effect Nkrumah's arrest.
Mr. Nunoo told a news conference that soon after the twenty-fourth February Revolution the Inspector-General of Police said his job of toppling the Nkrumah regime will not be complex unless Nkrumah is arrested and brought to Ghana.
In answer to a question, Mr. Nunoo said he is not sure whether Guinea is a member of INTERPOL. He said Nkrumah could be on arrested in Guinea if other countries would advise Sekou Toure to reason with the world.
