Background: Motor racing is a serious business -- and not everyone can win all the time. This is what a group of youngsters found out on Sunday when they competed in a junior grand prix for pedal cars at Crystal Palace near London. There were events for both boys and girls -- and on the whole the boys showed more reckless than the girls.
There were several races -- and some of the finishes were very close.Proud parents cheered on their offspring as the cars sped down the track. There were pats on the back for the winners -- and for runners up words of consolation -- after all we can't all be winners.
Every race has its accident -- but at Crystal Palace -- there was nothing more serious than one of the drivers catching her foot under the pedal.
The day ended well with all the competitors enjoying a round of ice cream.....
