Background: More anti-British demonstrations in Cyprus...and in London, from Britain's Commonwealth Secretary, Mr. Duncan Sandys, a warning to the United Nations that Britain can not carry on alone her peace-keeping mission in Cyprus very much longer.

Films shows some 3,000 Greek Cypriot students parading through Nicosia streets yesterday (Tuesday), shouting anti-British slogans and carrying banners such as "British Go Home." The demonstrators, marching on the Presidential palace, were to be turned back by police.

Mr. Sandys, in a Parliamentary statement, said the task of British troops in Cyprus was becoming "increasingly intolerable not only were they unaided but were actively obstructed by those they were trying to help. There was, he said, a "limit to the dangers and indignities" which British troops could be asked to endure.

Britain was exerting all efforts to help the United Nations Secretary-General, U Thant, to set up and send a peace force for Cyprus "without further dangerous delay." But at U.N. headquarters today, a spokesman said that as yet none of the six countries asked to contribute contingents to the Cyprus force had given a definition reply. It's now one week since the force was authorised by the Security Council.
