Background: A French film studio has been severely damaged by fire in Paris.

SYNOPSIS: The fire broke out around lunching on Thursday (21 February) in a canteen kitchen at the B???ulogne Billancourt Film Studios. It quickly spared and firemen had to battle for several hours to bring the flames under control. The studios were being used for the shooting of a film called "Fu Man Shu" with british comedian Peter Sellers. The actors and technicians escaped unhurt, but four firemen were slightly injured. People living in two buildings next door had to be evacuated when their properties were threatened.

The fire extensively damaged the studio complex and destroyed a number of film sets...but adjoining buildings were saved.

The cause of the fire has been blamed on a kitchen hot plate.
