Background: Chiang Kai-Shek's best pilots are being taught to fly newly-arrived U.S. F.100 Super-Sabre jets to strengthen Formosa.

The F.100s arrival will now dispense with the slower U.S. Thunderjets and Sabres flown by the Kai-Shek Nationalists.

Reportedly no F.100s have been used yet in air battles against the Chinese Communists.

The Nationalist air force flying the slower jets claim 50 Communist MIGs downed in the last two months.

Although the F.100s give extra backbone to Formosa, the major contribution from the U.S. is now the F.104 - claimed to be the fastest fighter in the world - at present flown by U.S. pilots.
