Background: King Paul and Queen Frederika of Greece drove Jan.15 to Kaissariani, one of Athens' poorest suburbs, to give dowry booklets to young daughters of poor families. The booklets entire them to a dowry in cash at 18.
The meeting place for the Royal couple and the poor was in a beflagged school. A large crowd greeted the King and Queen as they arrived. Boy Scouts were on duty at the entrance. After distributing the booklets the King and Queen spoke in turn with the children and their parents.
Queen Frederika, President of the Greek Red Cross, is a tireless worker for the poor and for refugees.
