REPORTER: Bishop, what do you think of the fact that the British have refused to take full charge of the conference, full responsibility?

MUZOREWA: I am disappointed and puzzled.I was under the impression that the British Government would want to see us succeed in the conference; and so that we can again complete this long overdue problem; and I am disappointed that they seem to be reluctant and they seem to take it lightly, and they seem not to support us (and to) use the very best influence they can. I am almost tempted to say that if the British Government takes these things lightly and we are likely not to succeed at the Geneva Conference that the only thing left is for the young men and women of Zimbabwe to settle their own problem with Mr. Smith, and on the battlefield which we thought we were going now to... we did not need any longer, by settling this at the table. But I want to deny categorically... it is not true that ANC does not have fighters.

ANC has lots of fighters; has got the majority of the recruits that are going on. The only difference is that they have been repressed physically and psychologically. If it needed be, to have every person who wants freely to be ANC, to be let alone without any fears, it would be proved that ANC has an army just as other people have them. All I can say is that if ti continues to be what it is now, I am very sorry but Zimbabwe is faced with a bloody civil war, even worse that they ever had anywhere in Africa.
