Background: Twelve more bodies were recovered on Friday(8 October) from the debris of a five-storey building, which collapsed in Ibadan on Wednesday (6 October). The death toll from the collapsed block of flats, which was still under construction, now stands at 29.
Officials estimated that 70 men were working on the site, and police think that some are still under the rubble. About 30 people were pulled alive from the tangled wreckage. Authorities have not yet determined precisely how many people were injured when the half-finished building crashed to the ground.
Construction work on the flats had been underway for six months. The building collapsed with a thunderous roar, throwing up a huge cloud of dust.
