    Background: The 1975 World Curling Championships continued in the ancient Scottish city of Perth today (Wednesday March 19) with some fine and skilful play, during which West Germany beat Denmark and Canada beat Sweden.

    The national teams are playing for the Air Canada Silver Broom trophy in the world Championships and among other teams in action today - the third day of the event - Scotland beat Switzerland, Norway beat France and the United States beat Italy.

    In the highest-scoring game of the day, current world champions Canada narrowly fought off the challenge from Sweden ad ran out winners by 9-7.

    In the second close-fought game, Germany beat Denmark by 8-4.

    The championships continue until Sunday, (March 23).
