Background: During the first day of his three-day visit to Jordan, Dr. Hassan Sabri Al-Khouli, the Egyptian Presidential Envoy of President Anwar Sadat, met with King Hussein and Prime Minister Zeid Al-Rifai on Tuesday (7 August).
King Hussein received Dr. Al-Khouli at the Palace after a morning working session between the Egyptian envoy and high-ranking cabinet members.
Dr. Al-Khouli's visit was believed to reciprocate for a similar visit to Egypt by Mr. Abdul Mumeim Al-Rifai, King Hussein's personal Representatives. The series of meetings are aimed at creating a common Arab attitude towards Israel and the recent United States veto of a United Nations decision condemning Israeli aggression in the Middle East.
Among those taking part in Tuesday's meeting at the Palace were the Commander in Chief of the Arab Army, Field Marshal Habess El-Majali, Mr. Zeid Al-Rifai, the Prime Minister, Mr. Abdul Mumein Al-Rifai, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and other cabinet members.
